Music Playing Problems?
Most problems can be solved by downloading and installing the latest versions of the player software. Free MP3 and video players for PC, MAC and other systems are available from Bill's Players page.
Bill's Music files are available in high quality, high bitrate streaming (which works best with a fast internet connection such as cable or DSL) and downloadable MP3. For slower connections, it works best if you download the files to your computer and play them locally. The audio quality of the music will depend on the quality of your computer's
speaker system and sound card.
PC: Click the stream music links and the correct MP3 player should open and play the music after a short buffering. To save the files to your computer, 'Right-Click' the download link and choose 'SaveAs' (or similar depending upon your browser). An option box should open which will allow you to save the file to your desktop or you may select a particular folder to file it in so you can locate it again. To play, just double click the file from your desktop (or from Windows Explorer if you saved it to a folder) and it should open the player and play the music for you offline. The stream and download links should also play for you with a single Left-Click but the file will be saved to whatever default location your system is set up for and may be temporary or difficult to locate later.
MAC: Click the stream links to play the streaming MP3 files. CTRL-Click or Drag and Drop the download file links to your desktop to play when not online. Free Mac players on Bill's Players page.
We have heard from several visitors that using some download managers or download accelerators has resulted in damaged or corrupted music files.
We have had problems playing the streaming .m3u files with RealOne Player. These same files play fine in the older version of Real Player 8, but they also play fine in Windows Media Player and others such as WinAmp so the best solution may be to change your options to play m3u files through another program if you are using RealOne and having difficulty.
If you are still having difficulty playing the music or videos on this site after upgrading to the latest version of the players you might also try emptying your browser cache and re-starting your computer. If that does not help, your questions should be directed to the 'Help' or 'Support' sections of the various MP3 Player sites which are linked on Bill's Players page. If none of these solutions help, please email details of the problem you are having, the file type (stream= .m3u or download= .mp3), the name of the file if you are only having difficulty with one, along with your system specs, player version and internet connection speed to the
webmaster.
If you are having volume problems, check the speaker icon in your system tray at the bottom right of your screen. If that does not help, check the volume slider in the player and finally, your speakers may have a volume dial. Volume controls in different players can affect other players as well so if the problem persists, try opening your other player programs and checking the volume settings. As a last resort, check your sound card program or request assistance from your sound card manufacturer which can usually be found by clicking your Start Button then navigate to Settings/Control Panel/System/Device Manager on PCs. There may be newer drivers available from the sound card manufacturer or your current driver may need reinstalling.
If you are having difficulty locating a particular music sample, try the Music Quick Links section which lists Bill's music samples by project and also has a site search at the bottom of the page. Older music samples may occasionally be removed from this site to make room for new samples.
A handy Download Calculator is available where you can calculate the time it will take to download a file at your internet connection speed and you can also test your internet connection speed. To obtain the information needed to calculate the download time, begin the download of a music file (right-click/save-as) and make note of the file size shown in the save dialog box and type it into the 'file size' box in the calculator.
Quicktime Movies Help
Version 5 of the Quicktime Player seems to be giving many people problems streaming some movie files on the web, including ours. If you are having this problem, upgrade to the latest version, Quicktime-6 which has fixed this problem, or use the download link on the movie page to download the movie to your computer where it should play just fine in any version of Quicktime. Grab the newest version of Quicktime on Bill's Players page.
If you are having sound difficulties when playing the Quicktime Movies, try this first: Open your Quicktime program, select the Preferences menu, choose "Connection Speed" and choose "Sound Out" from the dropbox. ("Sound Out" may be in a different location depending on your player version). Change the device for playback to something else in the list. If this does not work, try upgrading to the latest free version of Quicktime (available for mac or pc) available on Bill's Players page.
